Solactive launches USD & EUR high yield bond benchmarks
January 20, 2017--Solactive AG has released two new fixed-income benchmarks, the Solactive Euro HY Corporate Index and the Solactive USD High Yield Corporate Index designed to provide a snapshot of non-investment grade bond markets denominated in EUR and USD, respectively.
Both indices are Total Return indices and are rebalanced monthly.

SIX Swiss Exchange-ETF Quarterly Statistics: 4th quarter 2016
January 20, 2017--This report provides detailed figures regarding the performance of SIX Swiss Exchange's ETF segment.
In the 4th quarter of 2016, SIX Swiss Exchange recorded an ETF turnover of CHF 30.6 billion.
Compared to the previous quarter, this amounts to an increase of 19.6 percent. This was revealed today in the latest edition of ETF Quarterly Statistics[pdf].
Looking at the entire year of 2016, turnover in the ETF reached a new record. With CHF 103.8 billion, it grew by 7.7% compared to the previous year and surpassed the previous all-time high of CHF 101.9 bn registered in 2011.

January 19, 2017--SIX Swiss Exchange starts the year with an extension of its product offering and welcomes First Trust Global Funds plc, Ireland as a new ETF issuer.
First Trust joins the Swiss market as ETF issuer with two new ETFs for which Susquehanna is providing the liquidity. With this, SIX Swiss Exchange offers 1'215 ETFs for trading that have been listed by 23 issuers.

EBA and ESMA call to clarify margin requirements between CRR and EMIR
January 18, 2017--The European Banking Authority (EBA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published today their joint report on the functioning of the Capital Requirements Regulation (EU) No 575/2013 (CRR) with the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EU) No 648/2012 (EMIR).
The report calls for the requirements for credit, market, and counterparty credit risk in the CRR to be clarified. This clarification should ensure that only risks not already covered by specific financial resources for activities not related to clearing are to be covered by CRR requirements..
ENISA report on blockchain technology and security
January 18, 2017--Blockchain is a distributed ledger which maintains all transactions and assets and is updated by a number of counterparties. Financial institutions are investing in the technology-in what is hoped-to automate processes and remove "human" errors.
This may help towards lowering transactional and operational costs by releasing the finance sector from its legacy systems.
A World Economic Forum[1] report reveals that over one billion euros are invested in blockchain technology startups. Despite the potential cost savings, it remains important to assess what the security implications of Blockchain implementations might be.
