Southern Africa: SA Among Worst Economic Performers in Region
January 27, 2016--South Africa will be among the worst economic performers in sub-Saharan Africa as higher tariff barriers, protection for inefficient industries and deeper state intervention are set to draw back growth this year, according to analysts.
However, economists said this week that overall growth in the region would accelerate only "slightly".

East Africa Agrees to Fast-Track Unification of Stock Exchanges
January 27, 2016--East Africa has agreed to fast-track the unification of the four bourses via an online portal allowing cross-trading in securities.
In a joint statement the East African Securities Association through the chairman Mr Pierre Celestone Rwabumbuka urged member bourses to fast-track integration of the Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda bourses to create sustainable markets that support growth of individual economies.
