Inflows into US listed ETFs approached $12 billion during the second quarter of 2008. The largest net cash inflows occurred into ETFs tracking fixed income and leveraged/inverse ETFs. Inflows slowed for ETFs tracking commodities, while those tracking large-cap US equities saw the largest outflows. ETF industry assets are currently over $580 billion. The HR department at Morgan Stanley confirmed Fuhr's departure, IndexUniverse.com reports. And Financial News Online1 quotes an unnamed source at the bank as saying Fuhr has indeed stepped down. The exit may have something to do with cutbacks at Morgan Stanley, IndexUniverse speculates. At €644.5 million, sales revenues were up by 19 percent on Q1/2007 (€543.1 million) reflecting record trading volumes and the full consolidation of the International Securities Exchange (ISE). A further €64.3 million was generated from net interest income from banking business (Q1/2007: €46.1 million). Total costs in the first quarter amounted to €316.1 million (Q1/2007: €313.3 million), including some €10 million in depreciation of intangible assets related to ISE. EBITA rose to a new record of €425.8 million in the first quarter (Q1/2007: €300.3 million), up by 42 percent. The net financial result of the Group in the first quarter was positively impacted by a non-realized currency gain of some €25 million related to the ISE financing. | May 6, 2008--Deutsche Börse AG has reorganized its press office: Dr. Frank Herkenhoff (33) is Head of the office with immediate effect; and thus responsible for national and international media activities. Herkenhoff has been working for Deutsche Börse for two years now. He joined from an international communication consultancy where he worked for various companies of the financial sector. Herkenhoff holds a masters degree in communication science from the University of Leipzig and wrote his Ph.D. thesis about risk management.
Deputy Head of Media Relations is Heiner Seidel (36). He holds a degree in business administration and has been working for Deutsche Börse in various positions within the Corporate Communications department since 2001. Seidel joined the Media Relations in 2006. In addition to his role as Deputy Head of Media Relations he acts as a spokesperson for Eurex (derivatives market) and Deutsche Börse Systems. | May 5, 2008--National Stock Exchange(SM) (NSX(R)) today announced that U.S. listed Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) and Exchange-Traded Note (ETN) assets reached $609 billion at the end of April 2008, an increase of 27 percent over $478 billion at April 2007 month-end.
ETF net cash inflow for the month of April 2008 totaled $36 million and notional trading volume during April 2008 totaled $1.6 trillion. The current number of U.S. listed ETFs has increased 49 percent to 740 compared to April 2007 when 496 ETFs were trading. In addition, there are currently 33 issuers of ETFs/ETNs compared with 18 issuers at the same time last year. | |||||||||||||||
